Sparks, NV - A woman is carjacked by three men wearing ski masks, taken from her car at gunpoint and sexually assaulted in an empty building. And the suspects are still on the loose.

"There were a lot of police cars and people walking around with latex gloves," says Chris Flanner as he recalls what he saw across the street from his house Sunday morning. "Clipboards and things so I knew that it was a bad scene."

Flanner knew something terrible had happened nearby, but when he later learned that a woman had been carjacked and sexually assaulted in the area, he was stunned.

"Just that it happened in daylight right in front of my house is disturbing," he says.

The Washoe County Sheriff's Office says the woman was driving on eastbound on Wedekind Road toward Sullivan Lane when a green sedan blocked her. Three men inside with ski masks pointed a gun and forced her into their car.

"She was taken out of her car at gunpoint," says Deputy Armando Avina, spokesperson for the Washoe County Sheriff's Office. "There's nothing more frightening than that."

But the terror continued. Two of the men drove their victim's car to a nearby dirt driveway. The third man drove their car to the same area and sexually assaulted the woman at an unoccupied house.

"What we believe is that this person was followed and at a specific time was targeted and stopped," says Deputy Avina.

Detectives don't know why the suspects targeted this woman. They're looking into whether the men may have been driving around, looking for cars with single female drivers. This attack may not have been their first attempt. One woman told investigators that she had been driving in the same area that day around 5am when two men on foot wearing dark clothes tried to get her to stop her car.

As for the woman who was assaulted, she's battling injuries as investigators try to track down the men who terrorized her.

"It's unfortunate it happened to this person because she did not deserve it," says Deputy Avina. "We are working this and making sure that this does not occur to anyone else."

The suspects' vehicle is described as a dark green four-door sedan with tinted windows, stock rims and no license plate. If you have any information that can help detectives, you're asked to call Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.
