DOUGLAS COUNTY, NV - A set of human skeletal remains was found Monday evening near Spooner Lake.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Office says the remains were found by an inmate work crew clearing brush. It's unclear how long they had been in the area, but it appears they were there long enough to decompose.
Deputies have transported them to the Washoe County Medical Examiners Office for cause of death and Identification.
The remains were found about 300 yards to the north of Highway 50 near the top of Spooner Summit, between the Tahoe Rim trail and Kings Canyon Road, in a remote wooded area.
