The music and cars of Hot August Nights especially appeal to the Baby Boomer generation. This year organizers are trying some new things to draw in even more car lovers from every age group. Executive Director Toni Marini is hoping the crunch of a demolition derby, or the roar of the monster trucks, will make Hot August Nights a little more fun for those who don't always appreciate a good paint job and a pristine engine.
The new events are taking place at the Livestock Events Center between 1:00 PM and 5:00 PM on Friday. The area is also set up to give participant a little break from this year's extreme temperatures. Inside the main building you'll find a little eye candy and a little air conditioning.
For those looking to get in the game of car collecting you can even find a fully restored car for sale. One Reno collector tells KOLO 8 News Now he has 440 classic cars in his collection. Now Adam Miller says he's ready to part with a handful.
If you can't afford the whole car, a swap-meet on the grounds is likely to have those hard to find parts you need for your hobby car. You'll also find plenty of accessories in the way of tools and 50's memorabilia. For a complete list of hot August Nights Events through Sunday, click on the link below.
