SPARKS, NV - A proposed deal to rescue the golf course at D'Andrea in Sparks has fallen through. Residents who contributed money to a plan to attract investors were notified by email Friday that escrow was cancelled due to failure to deposit the necessary funds. With that all money that had been contributed was lost. The letter from Nick Oddo, managing member of D’Andrea Golf Partners LLC also stated that only 9% of the D’Andrea community supported the effort to make the land and clubhouse a community facility.
In addition to donating money for course maintenance during this search for investors, volunteers also sold golf memberships. It was hoped that guaranteed cash flow would help to entice investors, but it was not enough. According to the email, those who paid their membership dues in advance would be refunded.
For the volunteers who worked to save the course, this is heartbreaking news. Still most residents say even without the course it’s a great neighborhood. Construction is underway on new homes in a development by Lennar. So far sales for those properties have remained strong despite the course controversy.
