Dayton, Nevada – A second alarm fire in the home at 354 Sutro Springs Road in the Mark Twain area of Dayton has displaced a family of six.

The Central Lyon County Fire Protection District, assisted by the Storey County Fire Department, is on scene of a single family residential structure fire. The fire was reported at approximately 11:32 p.m. on Monday, February 20th.

When Central Lyon County Fire District personnel first arrived on scene shortly after the fire was reported, they found the occupants outside and approximately sixty-percent of the house involved in fire. Fire crews knocked down the fire in the approximately 2,000 square foot home. However, the entire structure was damaged or destroyed.

Fire crews are overhauling the fire. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The displaced family, two adults and four children, are being assisted by the American Red Cross. One of the adults was treated for minor burns at the scene.
