DAYTON, NV - Dayton Intermediate School was locked down for about 45 minutes because of a chemical scare Thursday.
The Lyon County Sheriff's Office says deputies were called to a report of suspicious materials at the school. Along with Lyon fire officials, the Nevada Fire Marshal's Office and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, they determined it was muriatic acid mixed with aluminum foil to create a small bomb. The result is a non-flammable explosion.
Three students were questioned and admitted to having the substances, but say they didn't plan to create a problem on school grounds.
No more materials were found and the case is still being investigated.
