RENO, NV - McCarran Boulevard is back open after being closed for about seven hours Monday evening after a car accident.
Part of McCarran Boulevard were closed as the Reno Police Department's Major Accident Investigation Team investigated the cause of the crash that occurred around 5 PM Monday.
Sergeant Brian Adamson with the Reno Police Department Traffic Division says the 62-year-old woman was traveling east on McCarran when she suffered a medical condition.
She lost control of her car and struck a Volkswagen Bug. Her car continued down McCarran, and into some bushes in front of Safe Lube.
Witnesses say the car knocked down a sign in front of the business, then headed back onto the street. The woman's car hit two other vehicles before coming to a stop near the intersection of Clear Acre.
Officials say the woman hit the back of a white truck, but that driver took off before police arrived. Sgt. Adamson says police would like to speak to the driver of that truck.
Witnesses told police the woman was unconscious in the car when it stopped. First responders began resuscitation before transporting the woman to Renown, where she remains in critical condition.
One other person was also transported to the hospital.
Officials are looking into whether the medical event happened before or after the woman hit the first vehicle.
