CARSON CITY, NV - Health officials in Carson City and Douglas County are on alert after a Carson City family was exposed to rabies.
After adopting a puppy from Facebook, one Carson City family became exposed to the virus.
The puppy in this case had actually developed a fatal case of parvo, but since he had bitten its new owner, a rabies test was called for.
It had been bought apparently from a private party. At 9 weeks it was too young to be vaccinated,
Although this is an usual case, is does raise some questions people should be aware of.
For those who are concerned, call the Carson City Health and Human Services 887-2190.
