RENO, NV - The cause of death has been released for a Reno mayoral candidate who was found dead in his apartment on April 14, 2014.
Autopsy and toxicology tests determined Anthony Perri, who was 48 at the time of his death, died of an overdose of methadone toxicity, according to the Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office.
The Washoe County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Perri's death as accidental.
After reporting Perri's death, Washoe County Registrar Luanne Cutler told the Reno Gazette-Journal that Perri's name will appear on the ballot.
Cutler says that under state law, a name is removed if a candidate dies before 5 p.m. on the second Tuesday in April before the primary election.
Notices will be posted at polling locations informing voters of Perri's death.
