RENO, Nev. (AP) - A Boulder, Colo., man who was bicycling at north Lake Tahoe last week remains in critical condition after he was struck by an SUV in a hit-and-run accident near Carnelian Bay.
The Reno-Gazette Journal reports 23-year-old James Hulett was being treated at Reno's Renown Regional Medical Center on Tuesday for major head trauma suffered in Friday's accident on California Highway 28.
The California Highway Patrol says 53-year-old Vincent Araujo of Kings Beach was arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run. He surrendered to Placer County sheriff's deputies in Tahoe City, Calif., about two hours after the accident.
The patrol says Araujo allegedly drifted onto the highway shoulder and struck Hulett from behind. The accident remains under investigation, but neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have been involved.
