RENO, NV - A precautionary code yellow lockdown ended quickly at a Spanish Springs elementary school Thursday.
According to Nancy Leuenhagen of the Washoe County School District, someone at Alyce Taylor Elementary reported seeing an individual showing a gun late Thursday morning, possibly in a threatening manner.
Washoe County sheriff's deputies have since found the source, telling us a homeowner two blocks from the school believed he was threatened by someone who approached his property. That homeowner showed a handgun, but apparently didn't point it, prompting the other person to drive off.
Code yellow means school was still underway, but students weren't allowed outside for recess or anything else until the lockdown was lifted.
