City Council Upholds Plan for Boomtown Truck Stop

RENO, Nev. - Reno City Council votes to uphold the re-establishing of a truck stop near the Boomtown Casino.

The vote was 5 to 1 with Council Member Jenny Brekhus opposing.
The previous truck stop was removed to make way for the Cabela's development.

The new truck stop will be located on the west side of the existing Cabela's store between Garson Road and Interstate 80.

The truck will contain a general retail store, a drive through fast food restaurant, a casino with no hotel rooms.

It will also provide several driver amenities; drivers lounge, showers, ATM and laundry facilities.

The truck stop will see the addition of security, the moving of a school bus stop, new landscaping, new directional signs, fencing and an electronic access gate.
