SPARKS, NV - Sparks police say a chase that started in Sparks has ended in Sparks, after spending some time in Storey County.
Washoe County deputies started chasing a blue Volvo on Interstate 80 near Vista Boulevard because the plate was stolen. The driver led them east to Storey County, then turned around and headed back into Sparks. He left the freeway and moved onto surface streets, including Pyramid and Victorian Square, finally stopping in the area of Prater, El Rancho and Sullivan, where he was arrested.
The sheriff's office says the driver is 33-year-old Steven Bumgarner of Reno. So far, he's being charged with possessing stolen property, but more charges are likely. Sparks police are also questioning a female who was in the car, but haven't released her name.
At one point, deputies indicated the chase got up to 100 mph.
