RENO, Nev. - Just across the street from where Colin Kaepernick used to play for the Wolf Pack, the Little Waldorf Saloon is expecting huge crowds this Sunday for their favorite 49er.
"We've staffed up considerably," says Toby Tamagni, general manager of the Little Waldorf Saloon. "We'll have a full load of bartenders and full load of waitresses. We expect to be standing room only by the time the game starts."
In fact, Tamagni says they never had big crowds during NFL games until recently.
"We've gotten a lot busier since Colin started to play for the 49ers," he says.
Just up the street at Archie's, they're pulling out the freebies for fans rooting for Kaepernick at the bar.
"Free tuaca shots every time Kap scores, either throwing or running in," says Kelsey Snell at Archie's.
After all, Kap was one of their favorite customers.
"Yep, he used to eat breakfast here and stuff so we want to just appreciate our customers during Super Bowl," says Snell.
Of course, the casinos are hosting their usual viewing parties, but this Sunday is going to stand out.
"We have a big game party every year but this one we're expecting to be a lot bigger," says Lauren Garber, public relations manager for John Ascuaga's Nugget. "Already in the playoff games, we've been packed with 49er fans and especially Kaepernick fans and we're just expecting this party to be bigger and better."
If you play blackjack at the Nugget on Sunday before the gam, you'll have a chance to win a Kaepernick 49er jersey in a drawing.
"That's a hot item," says Garber. "Those are sold out in almost every store here and we got our hands on some, and we're going to be giving them away on the big game this Sunday."
At the Eldorado, there's a casino-wide special for folks caught "Kaepernicking." If you strike the pose at one of their bars during the game, you can order a Kapple for $4 or two Kapples for $7. What's a Kapple? It's a drink they created just for Kaepernick fans for the big game.
At the Silver Legacy, they're also hosting the Big Game Party at the Downtown Reno Ballroom. Doors open at 2pm. Multiple screens will be showing the game during an all-you-can-eat buffet. That costs $40.
At the Atlantis, there will be food and drink specials at the Sports Bar & Lounge, plus Bud Light giveaways throughout the game.
Party-goers will also have a chance to win $100,000 in cash, a scooter, and other prizes throughout their Big Bowl Drawings. If the opening or second half kickoff is returned for a touchdown, one lucky person will win $100,000. Guests can receive one drawing entry for every $25 sports or race wager from noon through the end of the game.
