CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - The Carson City Board of Supervisors is nearing a settlement with a woman whose dog was impounded and euthanized because she couldn't come up with enough money fast enough to save it.

The board has drafted a proposed settlement of $41,500 to consider on Thursday on the condition dog owner Jeraldine Archuleta, signs a waiver of all claims in the death of her shih tzu, Rollie.

The Nevada Appeal reports Carson City Animal Services put the unlicensed dog down July 30, five days after it was impounded. Archuleta says she asked for more time to pay the $100.

The city also is being sued by the former animal services manager who says she was defamed and unfairly ousted from her job because of a public outrage over the incident.
