RENO, Nev. -- Some tenants at Peckham Gardens Apartment are displaced after a car hit two buildings, causing a gas main to rupture and leak.

NV Energy says two buildings, 16 apartments, are affected, forcing residents to be evacuated while fire and power crews secured the scene.

NV Energy says gas has been turned on for tenants in Building 4, but they will need to call NV Energy to relight the pilot lights.

Tenants in Building 7 have the most damage. The city has to inspect it before NV Energy can reattach the meters. No estimated time on when they will finish. Customers won't be allowed to go back inside until the city has inspected it.

No word what caused the driver to lose control or how many people were in the car.
