Campus Carry Bill Introduced in Nevada Senate

CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - A bill to allow school employees to carry guns on campus has been introduced in the Nevada Senate.

SB223 is sponsored by Republican Sen. Joe Hardy of Boulder City and a dozen other lawmakers. It would allow employees of the Nevada System of Higher Education, as well as public and private schools, to carry weapons on school grounds if they have a concealed weapon permit and notify administrators that they will be armed.

Current law requires the institution's president to approve people who are licensed to carry concealed weapons to do so on campus.

A bill that would have allowed anyone on campus to carry a gun with a concealed weapon permit died in the 2011 Legislature.
