RENO, NV - Renown South Meadows Medical Center had a situation that involved a camera which had been placed in a bathroom of a single-user public restroom. This was identified by an employee and reported immediately to police.
An employee, 42-year-old Roberto Ramirez, confessed to placing the digital camera and was immediately terminated. Renown notified police of the name to aid in their investigation and arrest, and will continue to work with RPD to identify and notify any victims of this crime.
Ramirez was contacted by detectives and cooperated with the investigation. He was arrested for (5) counts of Capturing the Image of the Private Area of Another Person and was booked into the Washoe County Jail and held on a $12,500 bail.
Reno Police Department Detectives and the RENOWN South Meadows Medical Center are still in the process of identifying and contacting victims involved in this investigation.

The bathroom, although available to the public, was located in a secondary hallway and was frequently used by staff. In addition, on that same day, Renown security conducted a campus wide search of all public restrooms and did not find anything suspicious.
“The privacy of our employees and visitors is something we take very seriously,” said company spokesperson Kathy Carter. “This unusual and unfortunate incident was noticed immediately, reported immediately and acted on expeditiously. We are sorry this occurred, and will continue to cooperate fully with the police in their investigation.”
