RENO, NV - Post offices were full in Reno on one of the busiest holiday shipping days of the year. The United Parcel Service and Federal Express said Monday would likely be the shipping companies' busiest day of the holiday season. A spokesperson for the United States Post Office said it was anticipating a busy day, but predicting an even larger crowd in the coming days.
"I'm sending calendars three different places," a woman in line at Reno's Vassar Street Main Post Office said.
Some said they had to try several post offices to find one that wasn't too busy.
"It appeared the line was too long (at one post office)," a Sparks resident said.
The Post Office said there seems to be a 6 percent increase in mail volume over last year.
"I packed everything last night and brought it into work with me and I'm on my lunch break," a woman sending gifts said.
A spokesperson for the United States Postal Service said customers may want to use automated machines, which weigh their gifts, and print labels. Gifts can also be picked up from your residence.
Items can be mailed as late as the twenty-second, and arrive by Christmas.
