HALLELUJAH JUNCTION, CA - The Lassen County Coroner's Office has released the name of the driver killed in a truck fire Tuesday. He was 62-year-old Clarence Carpenter of Los Molinas, California.
The Walmart big rig Carpenter was driving went off Highway 395 north of Hallelujah Junction. Carpenter's body was found in the wreckage.
The CHP says the Walmart big rig crashed and caught fire shortly before 8AM. The fire destroyed the truck and most of its contents.
The truck had just left Reno. Though there was rain and snow in the area, troopers say they don't think weather is a factor in why the truck crashed.
