Reno police have arrested a suspect in an overnight smash and grab that may be a big break in a rash of more than 45 business burglaries since March.
KOLO-8 News Now was the only media on the scene and a sergeant with Reno Police revealed more details of this crime spree, telling us that based on the suspect description, the person in custody is tied to other burglaries in our area. Not only that, but that there may be multiple two-man groups responsible for these burglaries in our area.
The latest burglary that has netted a suspect happened this morning at the AT&T on North McCarran. A side window was smashed with a hole big enough for a person to crawl through. Later in the morning, officers were searching a nearby field and canyon for electronics that had been stolen.
Another suspect is still on the loose, however police have not released a suspect description or surveillance.
The KOLO-8 News Now crew on the scene reports that the AT&T store does have a warning posted that it is protected by an alarm company.
Police do not believe that another early morning burglary in Lemon Valley is connected to the other burglaries. That one happened at The General Store in the 92-hundred block of Lemon Drive.
The suspect in that burglary is still on the loose and deputies are reportedly looking for a suspect on a red bike. The KOLO-8 News Crew on the scene early this morning saw Rock Star energy drinks strewn about in the road outside the store and blood on the sidewalk indicating that the suspect may be injured.
