INCLINE VILLAGE, NV - A worker with the Nevada Department of Wildlife killed a bear in Incline Village Thursday night after it did considerable damage to a condo.
Spokesman Chris Healy says shortly before midnight, the male bear got into a condominium and tore up furniture and more belongings. The elderly woman who lives there got out and called 911. Sheriff's deputies secured the scene until NDOW got there and tranquilized the bear, then shot it to death with a .22 rifle after it climbed a tree and fell from it. Healy says any bear that breaks into a home and is a danger to a homeowner is considered dangerous and will be put down if caught.
The bear was three years old and 325 pounds.
