CARSON CITY, Nev. (AP) - State lawmakers are ushering through a bill that authorizes a memorial for Nevada's fallen soldiers on the Capitol complex in Carson City.
SB230 is backed by Democratic Sen. David Parks of Las Vegas, and will be discussed Wednesday before the Assembly Committee on Government Affairs.
The funding for the memorial would come from public donations, and the design and construction would be handled by nonprofit groups.
At a prior hearing supporters said the memorial would provide comfort for family members of the fallen and help keep their memories alive.
The bill already cleared the Senate unanimously.
