Arson Suspected in Gardnerville Ranchos Fires

GARDNERVILLE, NV - The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is looking for the people involved in several suspected arson fires over the weekend.

Shortly after 1:30AM Sunday, August 24, 2014, fire crews were told of a vegetation fire in the vacant lot behind 1309 Langley Ave. The fire ignited an NV Energy power pole, affecting power at the apartment complex at that address.

While crews were there, they were told of a second fire behind the Frontier Telephone Exchange located south on Tillman Ave from the Langley street address. As firefighters responded to the scene, another fire was reported in a vacant field further south along Tillman Avenue. All three fires were quickly extinguished.

Damage to the apartment house electrical system, fence and exterior wall is estimated to be about $2500. Damage to the NV Energy pole and equipment is unknown at this time. The investigation continues.
