VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. (AP) - The 4th annual Police Memorial Week parade is scheduled May 4 in Virginia City.
The event presented by the Silver State National Peace Officers Museum pays tribute to officers killed in the line of duty while also celebrating the law enforcement profession.
With bagpipes, drummers and color guards the parade brings together officers from throughout Nevada as well as California, some in vintage uniforms and Western lawman garb.
This year's grand marshal is police Sgt. Tom Marchese of Soledad, Calif., the leading force behind the FALLEN project focusing on the increasing trend and impact of assaults and deaths of officers while on the job.
