WASHOE COUNTY -- Animals taken from an accused hoarder, and their offspring, are up for adoption. The Nevada Humane Society said 46 rabbits, 55 cats and six dogs are now adoptable. The cats and dogs may already be viewed, while the rabbits may be viewed beginning this weekend, Kim Chandler of the Nevada Humane Society said.

In June, KOLO reported 15 cats, 45 rabbits and six dogs were taken from a home on Merchant Street in Sparks. Ronnie Bandoni was charged with four felony counts of animal cruelty. Barry Brode of Washoe County Animal Control said Bandoni signed over ownership of the animals.

Authorities said they went to the home last month after someone called about a smell. KOLO reported more than 50 dead animals were also found.

The Nevada Humane Society said some of the animals needed medical care.

"Many of the cats and some of the dogs did have basic colds, and in addition we did need to spay or neuter all the animals," Chandler said.

The Nevada Humane Society is located on Longley Lane in Reno.
