All Hallow’s Eve Comes to Virginia City

Throughout October, all Hallow’s Eve comes to Virginia City, Nev. – one of the most haunted towns in the United States. With a history dating back to the mid-1800’s, it is speculated that the stories that made Virginia City continue to haunt the town today.

Halloween Ghost Walking Tours
Oct. 25 - 28 and Oct. 31 Walking Ghost Tours start at 5:30 and 8 p.m. each evening from the Silver Queen Hotel. Hear the stories of eternal resting places of those that have chosen to never leave the Comstock, including the Washoe Club. Special guest on the tours are the Northern Nevada Ghost Hunter's Team. Tickets are $30 per person and must be purchased in advance. Before each tour, there is a meet and greet with Janice Oberding, author of "A Ghost Hunter's Guide to Virginia City." If that isn't enough, an after - hours ghost hunting tour is available starting at 10:30 p.m. Tickets for this late tour are $80 per person and must also be purchased in advance. Additional ghost tours are offered throughout October by reservation only.

V&T Pumpkin Express Trains
Saturdays and Sundays, Oct.13, 14, 20, 21 and 27, this pumpkin themed train creates Halloween fun including passengers picking their jack - o' - lanterns from the V&T pumpkin patch. Trains depart at 11:20 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 3 p.m. from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad F Street Depot in Virginia City. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 kids. Haunted Halloween Evening Train on the Virginia & Truckee Railroad
Wednesday, Oct. 31, this haunted train ride is only for those who dare to be scared. Trains depart from the Virginia & Truckee Railroad F Street Depot in Virginia City at 4 p.m., 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. Tickets are $12 for adults, $6 kids. Goblin Parade in Virginia City
Wednesday, Oct. 31, ghosts and goblins take over Virginia City for the Goblin Parade on C Street – the town’s main drag, starting at 5 p.m.

Ghost Hunt and Dinner at the Mackay Mansion
Wednesday, Oct. 31, 6:30 to 11:30 p.m., become a ghost hunter starting with a champagne reception and followed by an elegant dinner and an evening of ghost hunting at the historic Mackay Mansion, built by George Hearst in 1860. Psychic and medium, Janet Jones serves as a guide during the evening. Tickets are $100 per person. The Mackay Mansion is at 129 South D St. For more information call 775-721-9305 or visit online.
