RENO, Nev. (AP) - The Reno Ace are teaming up with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada to help "Strike Out Hunger."
Fans are asked to bring canned food to the Triple A ballpark Friday night as part of the program co-sponsored by U.S. Foods.
Wives of Aces players and coaches will join food bank volunteers gathering goods in barrels outside the stadium before the 7 p.m. matchup with Pacific Coast League foe Salt Lake City.
They recommend bringing such things as peanut butter, canned fruit and tuna.
Anyone who brings at least one item gets a raffle ticket in a drawing for tickets and team memorabilia.
The Food Bank of Northern Nevada distributed more than 10 million pounds of food last year. It serves more than 97,000 people a month.
