TACOMA, Wash.—Josh Bell homered twice for the Aces Tuesday night, but the Tacoma Rainiers ran away with a 14-5 victory over Reno in the series finale at Cheney Stadium.

Bell’s first home run of the night in the first inning gave the Aces a quick lead. An inning later, Reno tacked-on another run to jump ahead, 2-0. That would turn out to be, though, the Aces’ last lead of the game. Tacoma answered with seven runs in the home half of the second and never trailed again, securing a 3-1 series victory in the final meeting of the season between the two clubs.

Despite the loss, Reno’s magic number was trimmed to nine on Tuesday, as second-place Colorado Springs fell in Salt Lake.

The loss fell to starter Zach Kroenke (6-4), who surrendered nine runs—just four earned—on nine hits through four innings of work. After his exit, Bryan Henry allowed five runs over the game’s final four frames out of the bullpen.

Rainiers starter DJ Mitchell (1-2) picked-up the win, scattering three runs on five hits through six innings of work. Two Tacoma relievers combined to hold the Aces to two runs over the game’s final three frames.

At the dish for Reno, Bell homered in the first and sixth innings—his second multi-home run effort of the season. Konrad Schmidt, Tyler Graham and Tyler Kuhn added RBIs for the Aces.

The Aces now return home to kick-off a five-game series against the Fresno Grizzlies, Triple-A Affiliate of the San Francisco Giants. In Wednesday’s opener, RHP Trevor Bauer (5-1, 2.74 ERA) gets the nod for Reno, while RHP Boof Bonser (0-2, 6.00 ERA) counters for the Grizzlies. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT.
