Reno Police have released the name of the pedestrian who was killed by a vehicle on Friday night.

Police say Norman Waller, a 57-year-old Reno resident, was attempting to cross North Virginia Street near Bailey Drive in a marked crosswalk when he was struck by a 1998 Toyota Rav4.

Waller was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The driver has been identified as 31-year-old Tenli Jones, also a Reno resident.

The circumstances of the accident are currently being investigated by members of the Reno Police Department’s Major Accident Investigation Team.

Alcohol and Speed do not appear to be a factor. RPD reminds motorists that during periods of inclement weather to use greater caution when driving.

Traffic investigators are requesting anyone with information about the accident to contact the traffic division at 334-2141 or Secret Witness at 322-4900.

Mr. waller was my 7th grade teacher at cold springs middle school. He loved coming to school in the morning to teach us. When you walk into the classroom, his smile lit up the whole room. He will be missed dearly. All of his students miss him dearly. We miss you Mr. Waller!!! <3
