5-year-old Jerry is a very active boy. Spending a little time together at the park, Jerry showed he can master the jungle gym and have fun with new friends as well.
Jerry is autistic. But he is well adjusted. In fact, his foster mom Joanne calls him a people person, "He loves being in a crowd, part of the crowd." She says, "He loves being the center of attention."
He likes things in order, so Jerry cleans his room every day -- even making his own bed.
"So at first, change for him is really bad and so he kind of backslides a little bit. Once he's integrated into the family and he knows this is what's going to be expected of him and he's got a routine going on over a little small period of time he adjusts."
Jerry is very successful in the developmental preschool he attends. So, Joanne doesn't do any therapy at home, only follow through.
Joanne says Jerry will thrive in a family with one or two kids, "because he's really come full circle when it comes to interacting with kids. And even though he's a little different he really can't see the difference when he's with other kids."
