FALLON, Nev. (AP) - A 19-year-old Fallon man has been sentenced to up to 10 years in prison in connection with a shooting in Fallon in June.
Ebelio Tapia Jr. had pleaded guilty to one count of battery with a deadly weapon causing substantial bodily harm and two counts of conspiracy to commit a crime. He'll have to serve a minimum of two years.
Tapia shot Patrick Black in the arm as two other men were about to engage in a pre-arranged fight. Police say he was there to serve as an armed backup with a stolen gun.
District Court Judge David Huff told Tapia on Tuesday he was lucky he wasn't facing a murder charge.
