If I could only get some experience and learn about people do things, I could get a good job, if there was one. Joining the Peace Corp would give me an experience, alright. Maybe more than I'm ready for. I like refinement, you know, a warm shower, food, clean water, a movie, AC. Joining would mean saying goodbye to the same old world I've come to know and love. And an adventure of a lifetime!
Get some miles under your self. Get into another culture and eat with your hands like they have done forever. You will never be the same. You will know something your neighbor here will never learn- respect for life its own self.
Joining the peace corp is the best thing people can do today because they'll see how lucky they are to have been born in freedom where clean water and clean air are legislated. Kids who don't see the world have no idea how incredibly far our little world has come in the last hundred years or how blessed they are with democracy, freedom and education. Go away and come back after you tried to bring prosperity to poverty. Find new beginnings in the dead ends. Find water in the dessert. See connections where there were only broken things. Learn the power of compasion. Look into the eyes of your fellow beings. Warm by the fire of empathy.
