ELKO, Nev. (AP) - The Nevada Highway Patrol says a mother and daughter were killed after the pickup truck they were in rolled over several times.
The highway patrol says a preliminary investigation shows 38-year-old Buffie Koue, of Sturgis, Ky., was driving a pickup on Interstate 80 Sunday near Elko when it drifted off the right dirt shoulder. The pickup hit the end of a guardrail head on and the vehicle overturned several times, coming to rest on its top.
Koue, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected. She died at a hospital.
Her mother, 64-year-old Joan Pearson, also of Sturgis, was lying down in the rear seat of the pickup. She also was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected. She died at the scene.
Another of Pearson's daughters was wearing a seat belt and was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
