ELY, Nev. (AP) - White Pine County is getting ready to go to bid on a new centralized emergency services center to house everything from fire and emergency medical services to a Yucca Mountain nuclear waste program office.

Road Department Supervisor Bill Miller says the exterior of the $1.2 million two-story building off the McGill Highway could be finished before winter.

Road Department Supervisor Bill Miller told commissioners in June that the county might be ready to bid on the project next month.

County officials say a centralized facility would let departments share costs for electricity and other services and provide room for future growth.

The new facility would also include a vehicle barn for ambulances and fire trucks and could provide storage space for the county's voting machines.
