RENO, Nev. (AP) - Three men charged in the casino shooting death of a Hells Angels leader are due back in court in Reno on Tuesday as prosecutors and public defenders argue about the ground rules for the murder trial scheduled to begin in October.
Ernesto Manuel Gonzalez, a rival member of the Vagos motorcycle gang from San Francisco, is accused of firing the shots that killed Hells Angels San Jose Chapter President Jeffrey "Jethro" Pettigrew on Sept. 23.
Among other things, Washoe District Judge Connie Steinheimer is considering whether to ban any clothing or symbols with references to the gangs inside the courtroom. The judge said earlier she'll have to balance concerns about the First Amendment but her top priority is safety in the courthouse.
