FALLON, NV - In another case of possible horse abuse in northern Nevada, Sheriff's deputies took 34 horses from a home on Hillsboro Road in Fallon Friday. The horses are now in a livestock shelter.
Churchill County sheriff's deputies acted on a tip that the horses were severely malnourished. A veterinarian who inspected the horses says that describes at least half of the horses, adding that one may have to be put down.
The horses are various ages and sizes and have a variety of medical conditions.
Sheriff Ben Trotter says there will be a court hearing sometime next week to determine if the woman who owns the horses will be allowed to keep them. As yet, she has not been charged.
