Reno Police Sergeant Paul Pitsnogle, a 39-year-old Sparks resident, has been indicted on two criminal counts of sex acts with a child.
A Washoe County grand jury heard nearly four hours of testimony about an alleged incident that occurred on April 3rd, on Interstate 80 and West McCarran. It involved a naked 17-year-old girl, a Reno resident, inside Pitsnogle's patrol car.
The jury handed up an indictment that includes willful misconduct of a public officer, a felony, and open and gross lewdness, which is a gross misdemeanor. Pitsnogle turned himself into Sparks Police Detectives and was booked into the Washoe County Jail, but is now out on $8500.00 bail.
If convicted, Pitsnogle will spend a minimum of one year in jail and be put on mandatory probation, as well as having to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Pitsnogle is currently on paid administrative leave, pending trial.
Authorities urge any female that may have had contact with Sergeant Pitsnogle where he made them feel uncomfortable, or hinted or suggested they could get out of a ticket by performing a sexual act, to call the Sparks Police Detective Division at 353-2225, or Secret Witness at 322-4900.
