INCLINE VILLAGE, Nev. (AP) - The curator at the historic Thunderbird Lodge on Lake Tahoe's east shore says pounding waves last winter seriously damaged the mansion's lighthouse.

The beacon stands upon rocks in the water in front of the lodge. Bill Watson says waves last winter seriously damaged it's rock foundation and is jeopardy of crumbling.

The structure was among the first built on the George Whittell property in the mid 1930s.

Watson estimates stabilizing the lighthouse will cost around $40,000.

About $50,000 more would be needed for cosmetic and electrical work to make it operational again.
