The new power plant is expected to increase Sierra Pacific's generating capacity by nearly 50-percent. Unlike older plants that run on coal, this one runs on cleaner natural gas.

The station is designed to be more efficient than the older one, and it's estimated to mean a fuel savings of 27-million dollars in the first year.

But, resident are already paying for it. The last increase on power bills of almost 10-percent went to help fund the plant.

The Tracy Combined Cycle Plant is located off of USA Parkway, just off of I-80.
