SPARKS, NV - The unveiling of the program took place at a home off of D’Andrea Drive in Sparks.
For sale now, it qualifies for the program for first time home buyers.
Called Down Payment Resource or D-P-R it is the nation's first web-based tool that allows potential home buyers to see if they qualify for various assistance programs.
“Before the agencies had marketing and they could put out a pamphlet that hopefully you ran across, your agent ran across and had enough knowledge about the program and was able to describe it and it was still current information,” says Shelley Specchio, Executive Officer of Northern Nevada Regional M.L.S.
Just about everyone agrees, that’s not a very efficient way for first time home buyers to know what their options are.
Enter D.P.R where a buyer can simply look up their home requirements go to the web page and look for the special icon.
Click and your various options appear.
Select a program or programs, fill out the forms and you will be plugged into agencies who can help you with down payments, closing costs, or other assistance programs.
Currently in Northern Nevada there are 50 funded such programs, and the website will be constantly updated.
Its estimated 85% of Northern Nevada listings may be eligible for one or more down payment assistance programs.
While this program helps first time homebuyers, it can also mean anyone who has not owned a home in 3 years.
