Commander Chris Perry from /Nv.Dept. Of Public Safety said today of Kara Borgognone:

"Kara loved be a police officer she loved protectig the community in which she lived."

Rochanne Downs from Fallon Paiute Shoshone Tribe said Adam Menuez was only with the force for a short time.

"Adam was an over achiever and the only person he would get upset with was himself when he didn't get something right the first time."

This is the 21st Annual James D. Hoff Peace Officer Memorial.
Law enforcement from all over the state gathered at Idlewild Park this morning to honor two fallen officers killed in the line of duty.

Justice Michael Douglas from the /Nevada Supreme Court talked about the sacrafice all officers make when they start their shift.

"Find the strength to get up each day up on a badge and risk their lives for the rest of us."

But his wasn't a ceremony to only honor the fallen.
Other officers from across the state stood and accepted survivors awards from their departments.

Ironically Kara Borgognone received one of these same awards just two years ago.

Her husband Dirk received kind words from officer George Sullivan wido, he was killed in 1998.

"She just said cherish the tears, because with tears come memories you have of you loved one and I told her its tough, but I do cherish them."

Borgognone says his wife's death only nine weeks ago still hangs heavy over the family, ceremonies like are bittersweet, they show appreciation for Kara (care-ahs) contributions, but also underscores an incredible loss.

He shows us his most recent tribute to his wife a tattoo with her name and badge number.

"Other than that I just want to tell the community with everybody for their support over these last nine weeks. Its been outstanding."
