RENO, NV - A stop light is being fixed and southbound lanes are back open on Kietzke Lane at Peckham after a 16-year-old unlicensed driver hit a light pole Tuesday morning.

Police say the driver had just dropped his father off at work and was driving with his mother when they crashed into the pole at Peckham Lane. Callers to the newsroom say the car is nearly unrecognizable.

Crews on the scene say there was battery acid and glass in the road, which has been cleaned up.

The 16-year-old has a broken leg and is hospitalized. He will be cited for driving without a license or permit. Police say it appears he fell asleep at the wheel.

The mother isn't seriously hurt.
