'John Doe' Suspect in Custody After Burglaries

RENO, NV - Police have a suspect in custody, after two more 'smash and grab burglaries.' The latest businesses hit were AT&T on McCarran in western Reno and the General Store on Lemmon Drive.

Reno Police said based on a suspect description, they took a person into custody in western Reno. The individual would not identify himself, according to police. He was booked into the jail as 'John Doe' on an alleged traffic violation.

Since March, more than forty local businesses have had windows smashed and valuables taken, according to authorities. The Reno Police Department is still investigating whether the break-ins are related.

The most recent burglaries happened overnight.

Randy Petersen said he is planning to put bars over the windows at the General Store in Lemmon Valley. He showed what appears to be blood near a broken window. "They cut themselves pretty good... hopefully they'll be caught," he said.

Anyone with information is urged to call the Reno Police Department.
