Negotiations have broken off for the sale of Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno.
Saint Mary's president and chief executive announced the
development in a statement Wednesday.
Saint Mary's parent organization, Catholic Healthcare West, announced in October that it had entered into exclusive negotiations to sell the hospital to Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc.
But Saint Mary's executives say the two sides have been unable
to reach "mutually agreeable terms" of the deal and have decided
to end negotiations.
Saint Mary's Hospital was founded in 1908 by the Dominican Sisters of San Rafael. According to its website, it has 380 beds, 2,200 employees and is affiliated with 850 medical providers.
