RENO, NV - 150 local businesses will be "going red" Friday in support of women's heart health, and they are asking you to join them. It's the American Heart Association's 11th Annual National Wear Red Day. Experts say one in three women will die of heart-related illness. That's a higher death rate than all forms of cancer combined. That's why the American Heart Association is asking you to wear red and take charge of your health.
To encourage awareness, the Northern Nevada chapter of the American Heart Association has planned a number of events around our area including "Running Red for Heart" at Scheels on Saturday, February 8th, and the Annual Save Your Heart luncheon on February 12. You can take a free risk assessment on the American Heart Association's website, or download a family tree to spot a trend that could affect your heart health.
Everyone participating in Wear Red Day this year is asked to post your pictures to the American Heart Association, Northern Nevada Facebook Page. For more information on that, free health assessments, and local events, check out the links to the right of this article.
