The night club caters to plus-size customers and those who enjoy the company of plus-sized people. The founders are a girlfriend and boyfriend couple who say Reno needed a place where everyone feels comfortable.

Tony Piersanti and Jean Olson have dating for a year. They got the idea for a plus-size nightclub in Reno after attending similar venues in Southern California.

"Tony's obviously much thinner than I am and we'll be in a regular club that's out there and he'll go through the crowd very easily and I will just have to sit and wait. You know, he went through a space this big and obviously I can't fit through that size," said Olson.

The couple plans to transform a room at Cantina Los Tres Hombres in Victorian Square into a full-fledged nightclub once a week. It will include dancing and drinks, much like any other club...but Olson and Piersanti say it will be geared toward accepting people of all sizes.

"We don't care if you're a size 12, 8 or 26, we just want you to come and have a good time. I'm like a buck 50 soakin' wet, but I have a great time at these. They accept me for who I am," Piersante.

Critics say the club may promote things like "Chubby Chasers," or "Fat Admirers," both terms sometimes used on online dating sites...but the couple says their club is clean, and just about having fun.

"The club is not geared toward 'chubby chasing' or being an 'F-A.' It's a general preference, not a fetish. It's kind of like a man likes blonde-haired woman. I like a big woman," said Piersante.

The couple says they have already gotten a lot of response from the community. Their MySpace message inbox is overflowing with comments from people who say they are happy Reno finally has a place that welcomes them.

"I mean, we are an odd couple. He is thin and I am not. People look at us and think they shouldn't be together. But some look at us and say wow, they've found love even though they look so different," said Olson.

The grand opening is Friday, October 19th at 9:30 p.m. at Cantina Los Tres Hombres in Sparks. They plan to have a similar gathering every Friday, same same time and place. The cover charge is $10.00.

Many nightclubs for large people can be found here and there. The difference between them is accepting all size of people. I know that a dating site http://www.largeplace.com have cooperated with some local club to offer an platform to enlarge the friends circle of big people.

I think Daniell has it all wrong. The larger size people I know are not so because of their own doing. There are a lot out there who are that way because their metablosim changes and the body doesn't work as efficiently anymore due to illness or age. I think one ought to look at the personality and not the person.

Unfortunately, obese people seem to be all there is to look at in America these days. It's not healthy and it's certainly not attractive. Those few thin folks who claim they are attracted to overweight people have had no choice but to acquire a taste for them in order to find a date.
