Reno, NV- If you’re looking to explore the trails around Northern Nevada or thinking of biking around the Truckee River, consider taking a furry friend along. The Nevada Humane Society is hoping more volunteers will take a shelter dog out for the day.
It’s all part of a program called Hiking Buddies. Staff say it’s a win-win situation. Shelter dogs get to enjoy the outdoors while stretching outside their kennels and volunteers get the chance to squeeze in some extra exercise, outdoors.
Staff hope the program will raise awareness of just how many dogs in our area need a new home. Dogs will leave the shelter wearing vests with the words, “Adopt me.”
