If you’re planning on eating out with family or friends this week, consider doing so for a good cause. The event Dining Out For Life is an annual event where you can make a difference in the lives of people in our community living with HIV/AIDS.
More than 50 restaurants in our area are taking part in Thursday’s event. The newly opened Wet Hen Restaurant is one of the participating eateries. Owner Jackie Handlin says giving a quarter of her proceeds to the non-profit Northern Nevada HOPES, which is turn donates it to people in our community living with HIV/AIDS, is very, “fulfilling”.
Handlin and other restaurant owners will be donating anywhere from 15-50 percent of their sales to the cause.
