Hard-hitting rhythms, melodic grooves and soulful vocals are key elements in what separate The Mark Sexton Band from other groups.
Maybe it’s the fact that all three members have known each other since childhood, growing up together, creating a closeness that shows not only musically, but also during spare time. Singer/songwriter Mark Sexton teamed up with local producer and musician Alex Korostinsky to create an album of original music.
Shows were being booked and rough demos were being sold out at every gig. A year later, their first LP “Once This Year” was released on the independent label “Cha Tones Productions” started by Korostinsky years before. The album debuted in 2006, with hundreds of copies sold making the record a favorite among locals.
Soon, long time friend Dan Weiss (drums) joined the group to complete the trio. All three members bring different musical styles, creating their own true raw sound, a unique blend of ALL-acoustic rock, reggae, funk, pop, jazz and a hint of world beat.
Now back in the studio with saxophone player Damian Harai, the band is churning out new material showcasing the soulful songwriting, smooth guitar tones and vocals of Mark, thumping bass grooves by Alex, crystal clear drum rhythms courtesy of Dan, and unique inprovisation of Damian.
With spectacular live performances, The Mark Sexton Band is driving full force making a name for themselves on the West Coast.
The group will be holding it's CD release party January 3rd at the Nevada Museum of Art. Visit Hot Topics, on our homepage, for more information.
